This lesson is going to help you identify the reasons why you should deny the Flesh. You will learn to Identify the obstacles that ha'satan has placed before you as well as the Promise of Yah to all who obey His Words.
First off, let us identify what flesh really means for this topic.
Strong's Greek: G4561- σάρξ sárx, sarx; probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e. (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specially), a human being (as such):—carnal(-ly, + -ly minded), flesh(-ly).
Romans 8:11-14
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:11-14 has some words we will examine closer.
quicken: Webster-
a : to make alive : revive
b : to cause to be enlivened : stimulate
Mortify: G2289 θανατόω thanatóō, than-at-o'-o; from G2288 to kill (literally or figuratively):—become dead, (cause to be) put to death, kill, mortify.
Outline of Scripture usage:
by death to be liberated from the bond of anything,
literally to be made dead in relation to (something)
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death G2289 in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
How Do we Know we are Dead before we Allow God Into our Lives?
Ezekiel 37:1-14
The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley;[a] it was full of bones. 2 And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. 3 And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” 4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath[b] to enter you, and you shall live. 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling,[c] and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.
11 Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. 14 And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord.”
Why is it important to put to death our flesh? What is some of the flesh desires or traits that make living for the flesh wrong?
Living For the Flesh
1. Vanity - Ecclesiastes is full of verses about vanity.
Merriam Webster:
1: inflated pride in oneself or one's appearance : conceit
2: something that is vain, empty, or valueless
3a : dressing tableb : a bathroom cabinet containing a sink and usually having a countertop
4: the quality or fact of being vain
5: a fashionable trifle or knickknack

excessively proud of or concerned about one's own appearance, qualities, achievements, etc.; conceited:a vain dandy.
proceeding from or showing pride in or concern about one's appearance, qualities, etc.; resulting from or displaying vanity:He made some vain remarks about his accomplishments.
ineffectual or unsuccessful; futile:vain hopes; a vain effort; a vain war.
King Solomon became vain with his knowledge to the point he gave up his faith of Yah and followed other religions. He had gained so much for Yah, yet he went the ways of his many wives.
Another note worthy person to understand is Jezebel. Name Meaning—This heartless woman with a bloody history belived the name she bore, for Jezebel means, “chaste, free from carnal connection”; but by nature she was a most licentious woman. She was a voluptuary, with all the tawdry arts of a wanton woman. Thus no name could have been more inappropriate for such a despised female. She is found in these scriptures 1 Kings 16:31; 18:4-19; 19:1, 2; 21:5-25; 2 Kings 9 Baal had no more dedicated devoteé than Jezebel. None could match her zeal for the worship of Ashtaroth the famous goddess of the Zidonians, as zealous and liberal maintenance of hundreds of idolatrous priests clearly proves
licentious 1: lacking legal or moral restraints; especially : disregarding sexual restraints
licentious behavior
licentious revelers
2: marked by disregard for strict rules of correctness
2. Coveting- Exodus 20: 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Webster- covet: : to wish for earnestly covet an award 2 to desire (what belongs to another) inordinately or culpably The king's brother covetedthe throne.
The KJV translates Strong's H2530 in the following manner: desire (11x), covet (4x), delight (2x), pleasant (1x), beauty (1x), lust (1x), delectable things (1x)
Covet: Strong's 2530- חָמַד châmad, khaw-mad'; a primitive root; to delight in:—beauty, greatly beloved, covet, delectable thing, (× great) delight, desire, goodly, lust, (be) pleasant (thing), precious (thing).
Examples of this can be found in every day life. If you see the new smart phone or someone with a new car and think you wish you had it, but do not really need it. The phrase "Keeping up with the Jones'" is not someting to brush off. It was coined for a reason.
Classical examples of coveting by a patriarch is Jacob as recorded in Genesis 27:35-37, Achan - Joshua 7:21; Samuel's sons - 1 Samuel 8:1,3; Saul - 1 Samuel 15:9, 19; False prophets - Isaiah 56:10-11
3. Disobedience:
Colossians 3:1-6
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Disobedience- lack of obedience or refusal to comply; disregard or transgression.
The KJV translates Strong's G3876 in the following manner: disobedient (3x).
Romans 5:9
For as by one man's disobedience G3876 many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Children and Disobedience:
Juvenile Arrests 2017:
In 2016, law enforcement agencies in the U.S. made an estimated 856,130 arrests of persons under age 18, 58% less than the number of arrests in 2007. (number maybe down, but that is still alot of children)
Disobedience in the Last Days
2 Timothy 3:1-7
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Knowing about how to identify the flesh and what to do in regards to killing the vanity and coveting and disobedience that comes with it is found in Scripture when you read it. As Yah to fill you up with Life= The Word of Elohiym.
Yahuah cannot live inside of you if you are doing the same old things and thinking the same old ways. You are trying to life for flesh and Spirit. That will cause you torment and become double minded, that is why you must kill the flesh.
Matthew 9:16-17
No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
